Our recruitment process is designed to assess potential, skills set, values and most importantly motivation and commitment towards your chosen career path. The steps you’ll experience depend on the business area, level and location to which you are applying, but whichever route you take, it’s a two-way process: we aim to provide you with an insight into our culture and people and the work we do, to help you decide whether we’re right for you too.
We want to make sure our process is fast, efficient, respectful of your time and above all objective, so this year we’ve introduced a number of enhancements to our process, highlighted below.
Not sure where you fit?
We really value diversity of degree backgrounds and appreciate that sometimes your degree subject may not directly lead you towards banking. However we strongly look to develop teams with diverse skills sets that also align better to the diversity of our client base. If you are interested in Barclays but are not sure where you fit in please apply to vacancy titled "Barclays need some advice" and a recruiter will be in touch to explore your opportunities.
Online Application Form
We’ll ask you for personal and contact details; your current academic attainment and expected grades for studies you haven’t yet completed; why you’re applying for your chosen opportunity, and your CV.
New: optional contextualised screening. We’re looking for strong achievements, but we also know that sometimes personal circumstances make that so much harder. If you’d like us to view your achievements in a particular context, we’ve introduced a section where you can talk about any mitigating circumstances.
We want to know what excites you about a career at Barclays and your interest in your chosen role. Just as importantly, we’re keen to hear about your varied experiences, the things you enjoy doing and how you feel in certain situations.
New: on-demand video interviews. Gone are the days of having to wait for interview slots. You can now complete your interview at a time convenient for you, using our new video interviewing format. Simply prepare, be yourself, find a quiet space and have your webcam at the ready.
Depending on the business to which you have applied, we use a variety of group exercises, role plays, case studies and interviews to see how you present yourself, interact with other people and analyse new information. You will learn a lot from the experience of our Assessment Centre – about the industry, about Barclays and about yourself. We will provide you with feedback on your performance throughout the day, whatever the outcome.
New: On-campus "Fast Track" assessment centres. Where application flows allow, we’ll be coming to your campus to invite you to attend a fast-track assessment centre.
