Find the right future for you
Here’s a quick look at our apprenticeship pathway. You don’t have to start right at the beginning. It’s more a matter of finding the right entry point, and then starting there.
No work experience at all? No problem. Our traineeship is a pre-employment programme designed to help you get ready for the working world. It starts with essentials like English and Maths skills, how to make a good impression, and how to shine in an interview. The second step is work experience, where you’ll put your new skills into practice in the workplace.
If you’re ‘work ready’, this is where you could start building a lasting and rewarding career with us. Age, background, experience, education – none of these will stop you taking on a Barclays Apprenticeship and earning a salary. Our support will help you explore our business, gain an A-level equivalent qualification, try various roles, and take advantage of all the many opportunities ahead.
Completed our Foundation Apprenticeship? Here’s where you can build on everything you’ve learnt so far, by taking your first steps towards becoming a specialist. Concentrating on a particular role, you’ll continue to learn, earn and gain experience. You’ll study for specific qualifications too. Think of it as a natural next step on your Barclays career.
There are a number of pathways within this apprenticeship, in very different parts of our business. Whichever one you follow, you’ll find the opportunity and support you need to take your potential and turn it into a career. You’ll build on your talents, gain a qualification, and explore ways to become an important part of our future.
Who can be a Barclays Apprentice?
We know that talent can come from anywhere. As far as age, background, or experience are concerned, there’s no such thing as an ideal apprentice. Potential is all we’re interested in, and we are committed to helping people who have it to grow.
Qualifications can open doors. So let’s help you get one. Take on a fulfilling role, earn a salary, gain experience and training, and get qualified – all with our support behind you.
Once you get started, it’s important to keep the momentum going. After completing the Foundation stage, you can take the first steps towards becoming a qualified specialist with our Progression Apprenticeship.
There are many ways we can help you aim higher. We have a number of routes here, all of which offer fully sponsored university-level qualification and an extraordinary experience. Find the right one for you.

Meet our people
Every one of our apprentices has a story to tell – and every story is an inspiration. You’ll find them here.
It’s an opportunity for people who thought they wouldn’t work again to have a career. I get to share my experience and knowledge, rather than letting it go to waste.
Before joining Barclays, I was very low in confidence and felt no employer would give me a chance to prove I was capable. When I came across this opportunity with Barclays, all of this changed.
One thing I really like about Barclays is the ability to say look I’ve got an idea can I do it? Nine times out of ten they’ll say yes.
I get a lot more support than I expected. I’m able to sit down with my manager and talk about how I want to develop and move as quickly as I’m able to. If I want to progress quickly, I’ll be able to - the only thing stopping me is me.
