Progression Apprenticeships

Once you’ve finished our Foundation Apprenticeship, here’s where you can keep the momentum going. You’ll focus on a particular area of our business – continuing to learn, earn, and gain experience. For people aiming higher, this is a big ‘next step’ in their Barclays career.

For many, this is the next step after a Foundation Apprenticeship.

Our Progression Apprenticeship runs for 18 months, and offers the opportunity to really focus on a particular role or area that interests you. For example, you could choose to focus on becoming a specialist mortgage advisor, or pursue a career in Barclays business banking.  You’ll continue to take on a full-time role – applying everything you’ve learnt so far to work that is far more specialist. At the same time, you’ll study for specific, industry-standard qualifications. It will be a big boost to your current work, and will open up plenty of opportunities.

What does our Progression Apprenticeship offer?

What can you expect?

To put it simply, you can expect to progress in a direction that inspires you. Studying for up to 18 months, you’ll follow a course (delivered by Capita) that will build on the skills you have and help you develop brand new ones. It’s a great way to grow, and an excellent way to prepare for a specialist career at Barclays. You’ll get to gain recognised, higher-levels qualification too.

You can also expect to be supported. We know that balancing work and study can be tough, so we’ll help you in any and every way we can. This includes completely covering the cost of the apprenticeship.

We designed this route for Barclays colleagues who have completed their Foundation Apprenticeship with us and have a clear idea of what kind of work they want to do next. The most important thing is that you have bags of potential, and that you’re ready and keen to learn.

When you complete the Progression Apprenticeship, you won’t just have specialist experience and a recognised qualification: you’ll have options too. You’ll be able to move into a full-time specialist role with us, or to apply for one of our Higher Apprenticeships where you can take your learning up to degree level. Either way, you’ll be ready to do well.

This apprenticeship is part of our internal learning pathway that begins with a Foundation Apprenticeship. So you should apply on our Foundation Apprenticeship page.

Meet our Apprentices

All around our business, there are colleagues who’ve used a progression apprenticeship to move up with their ambitions. Hear from a few of them here.
