Find your way back into work
Parenthood can impact your career in lots of different ways. You could be a mother. A father. A grandparent. Maybe you’ve only been away for a year or two. Maybe you wanted to wait until the kids were at secondary school or university. Whatever your situation, a Barclays Apprenticeship can help you make your way back into work - with a life balance that means you can still look out for your family too.
Looking back, I was so nervous – so unsure of myself – but I think that’s only natural. I’d never done or applied for anything like this. But I knew I was doing the right thing. I wasn’t going to turn down this chance to gain a qualification and brighten my future.
Today, I’m on a Foundation Apprenticeship in Liverpool’s Sky Branch, and I’m so proud to be here. The skills I’ve learned, the tasks I take on from day to day – they make me a more confident person. And I think a lot of that is down to the supportive colleagues around me.
With their help, I’ve proved to myself that I can do this – that I can do my job, study for a qualification, and balance my family life. And now that I know it’s possible, I’m excited for what else I can achieve. I want to grow here, and pass on what I’ve learned to other apprentices on their journey.
Whether this is your first job or just the first once since you started your family, Foundation Apprenticeships are a great place to start. There’s no ideal age, background or experience – all you need is potential, and we’ll help you do the rest. Over the course of the programme, you’ll explore our bank, gain a recognised qualification, and start planning your future with us.
You might not have gone to university before, but now that you’re returning to work, this could be a great time to get a new qualification with us. With our Higher Apprenticeship, you can earn as you learn, working toward a professional or university-level qualification as you work with us. You’ll benefit from our full support, and start discovering your path to success.
